Denis J. Lawler Joined Archer & Greiner in Philadelphia
Denis J. Lawler has joined Archer & Greiner’s Estate and Trust Litigation Group as a Partner in the firm’s Philadelphia office. Previously, Mr. Lawler practiced commercial litigation, with a focus on trust and estate cases, at Blank Rome LLP.
Mr. Lawler has tried cases throughout his career, most recently defense of corporate fiduciaries in trust matters before Pennsylvania Orphans’ Courts. He has experience with estates and orphans’ court litigation involving will contests, representation of foreign claimants to Pennsylvania estates, disputes involving powers of attorney, and disputes involving nonprofit corporations. Mr. Lawler also handles professional liability disputes involving lawyers, including defense of legal malpractice claims. His experience additionally includes litigation of contractual disputes, such as those involving government contracts, construction and zoning matters.
Recent results obtained by Mr. Lawler include successful defense in arbitration of a supplier who terminated a long-term supply contract on grounds of impossibility, resulting in a defense verdict and award of $1 million in attorneys’ fees under a fee-shifting provision in the contract at issue.
Mr. Lawler has received the highest possible rating from the Martindale-Hubbell legal directory. He received his law degree from Villanova University School of Law. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a member of the Board of Directors of the Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children of Philadelphia County. Mr. Lawler also served as a Board member and past President of the Lawyers’ Club of Philadelphia and St. Joseph’s University Law Alumni. He is a member of the Brehon Law Society and North Hills Country Club, where he served on the Board and as President. Mr. Lawler also served as a member of La Salle College High School Board of Trustees.
